         Fishing Regulations

Individuals fishing in Lubbock's parks must follow
all Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's regulations
including the possession of
a current Texas Fishing License.

Catch and Release
is strongly encouraged so that everyone
can enjoy fishing in our parks.

Fish Stockings in Park Lakes

Some of Lubbock's park lakes are periodically
stocked with fish by the
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Species include bass, channel catfish and rainbow trout.  Information below is courtesy of TWPD!

All stockings of fish are subject to change due
to fish availability and lake conditions.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be stocking
sub-adult catfish approximately 9 inches long
in the following park lakes sometime in September or October:

2005
Higginbotham Park - 19th and Vicksburg
Elmore Park - 66th Street and Quaker Avenue
Buster Long Park - 56th and Aberdeen

Maxey Park - 24th Street and Quaker Avenue
McCullough Park - 88th and Flint
Ribble Park - 62nd and Temple
Comancheria Lake (Canyon Lake #3)
East of N. University and Canyon Lake Drive

Andrews Park - 76th and Memphis
Casey Park - 66th and Avenue W
Dupree Park - 59th and Toledo
Guy Park - 93rd and Memphis
Higginbotham Park - 19th and Vicksburg
Hoel Park - 91st and Chicago

Boating Regulations        

A FREE boating permit is required
from the Parks and Recreation Office
to use water craft in certain Lubbock parks

We can mail you one or come by our office!

  Sailboats, canoes, kayaks and rafts may be used on:

Maxey Lake -
24th Street and Quaker Avenue
Elmore Lake -
66th Street and Quaker Avenue
Leftwich Lake -
60th Street and Elgin Avenue
and the
Jim Bertram Lake System
from Buddy Holly Recreation Area west of North University
to Dunbar Historical Lake east of MLK, Jr. Blvd.

1.  Only non-motorized boats are allowed in these lakes.
2.  Battery-operated electric or trolling motors are allowed
     only on lakes in the Jim Bertram Lake System.
3.  No homemade rafts are permitted.
4.  Coast Guard approved life preservers must be worn.
5.  Boating hours are from sunup to sundown.

        Radio-Controlled
Boating Regulations

Radio-controlled boats are only allowed on
Buster Long Park - 56th Street and Aberdeen

Cost $10 Annually

1.  All individuals operating radio-controlled boats must

     have a permit issued by the Parks and Recreation Dept.

2.  All persons shall be required to become a member of the

     North American Model Boat Association (NAMBA) or to

     have liability and property damage coverage of at least

     $1,000,000.

3.  All City Ordinances must be observed.

4.  No vehicles may be parked or driven on park property.

5.  Parks and Recreation reserves the right to terminate

     any event and clear the park site if a nuisance or valid

     complaint regarding the event is identified.

6.  Permit holders are responsible for removing litter and

     properly clearing the park site after events.

7.  Noise levels from boats must not exceed 92 decibels.

8.  Radio-controlled boats must not be operated before

     10:00 a.m.

9.  Family members are included with individual permit

     holders.
